The project aims to inspire and engage young Australians under 18 in STEM through dynamic, drone-based workshops and hands-on experiential learning. By immersing participants in real-world scenarios, the program nurtures the development of STEM knowledge, self-efficacy, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills for a sustainable future. Leveraging drones and virtual reality tools, participants will acquire skills in photography, videography, coding, programming, drone automation, and 3D spatial visualization. Significantly, the project targets youth from First Nations, remote communities, and remote and top-end schools, empowering them to embrace STEM careers, drive change and become leaders in their communities.This program is funded by Australian Government Department of Industry Science and Resources.

Empowering First Nation People with STEM education

Empowering the Next Generation! FAS Lecturer Dr Farha Sattar brought the thrill of drone technology to First Nation students at the Tiwi Futures Expo, in collaboration with the Remote School Attendance Strategy and Tiwi Islands Training and Employment Board. Students from five remote schools learned to fly drones, follow CASA safety rules, and discover how tech skills can shape their future—proving that for these young innovators, the sky is no longer the limit. Read More

Phase 1

Our Drone STEM Program introduces middle school students to the exciting world of drones through hands-on learning and exploration. Students will discover the science and technology behind drones, learn the basics of safe handling and operation, and develop problem-solving and teamwork skills while practicing real-world applications. This engaging program makes STEM fun, interactive, and inspiring for future innovators.
